"CASA volunteers are of inestimable value to the court because they have the opportunity to talk with the parents, the child, the adults who come in contact with the child on a regular basis. They can find out what's going on in the child's life. Judge Wilson and I cover six counties and we don't have the time to find those things out ourselves. It's important that we have those facts for us." The Honorable David Goodson Circuit/Chancery Juvenile Judge

Become a CASA VolunteerBe the Difference CASA does it's work through trained community volunteers who work with the court, alongside attorneys and social workers. A CASA volunteer, trained and supported by CASA is appointed by a judge to speak up for an abused or neglected child who is going through the foster care system. The CASA volunteer takes the time to find out as much as possible about the child's situation, reviewing records, interviewing parents, teachers, neighbors and others who may be familiar with the circumstances and, most importantly, talking to the child. The volunteer presents information to the judge and may appear in court to recommend what is best for the child's future - what will best help the child move toward a safe and permanent home. The number of neglected/abused children continues to rise and children continue to linger in foster care. With existing resources CASA will be able to assist with finding safe, permanent homes for these children. But without your help, the ever increasing majority of foster children will not be fortunate enough to have a CASA volunteer' voice in court.
